Ready for school: Some 100 children received warm coats,
backpacks, school supplies and clothing recently at St. Paul Evangelical
Lutheran Church of Winlock. Each
year, the congregation holds a dessert auction to raise funds for items for its
“Coats for Kids” event. St. Paul members have been hosting the community for 12
years. This year it took place on Aug. 11.
Blessing
of the backpacks: Students
at Bethel of Brush Prairie will tote
their backpacks to the 10:30 a.m. Service Sept. 9 for a blessing as the new
school year gets underway.
Playground dedicated: St.
Andrew of Vancouver members
and friends will dedicate an expanded playground and activity center on church
grounds during an after-church picnic Sept. 23. The congregation plans on hosting
preschool children and families. The playground will be used as an outdoor
classroom throughout the year.
